I’m cryptographer in the research & innovation team of Smals, the largest IT service provider for the Belgian public sector, with a focus on social security and healthcare. Protection of sensitive personal data is a continuous focus of Smals.
Within this context, I foster innovation by pioneering and implementing new cryptographic concepts, offering guidance, and facilitating knowledge transfer.

My roles
- Cryptography expert for IT projects and Advisor for public bodies.
- Prominent role in developing cryptographic governance, which includes, among others, cryptographic policies, recommendations and procedures.
- Inventor or facilitator of novel, innovative cryptographic concepts, which are oftentimes adopted in live environments
- Creating awareness, within Smals and the public sector, about opportunities and threats related to privacy and cryptography.
