I’m the cradle of eHealth’s blind pseudonymization service. I was very honored that this innovation came in a strong second place at the prestigious Best Cybersecurity Innovation Europe awards at Cybersec Europe in the presence of Prince Laurent. The jury praised the service for its innovative, practical and Belgian character, the simplicity of the solution and the potential to apply it in other domains.

Belgium’s Cyber Security Privacy Professional of the Year
I was honored to be one of the 5 finalists for this prestigious reward.
Belgium’s Cyber Security Awards programme rewards different types of personalities who make a significant contribution to improving cyber resilience in Belgium.
The Privacy Professional, for which I was nominated, has contributed across the domains of 1) privacy performance, 2) accomplishments, 3) stakeholders partnership and 4) privacy culture.
The award ceremony on 4 December 2024 in the majestic Africa Museum of Tervuren happened in the presence of Matthias Diependaele, Minister-President of Flanders and Annelies Verlinden, Belgian Minister of the Interior.


With expertise in applied cryptography, quantum-resistant cryptography, and blockchain, Kristof is a leader in privacy and security. His work spans from groundbreaking research and publications to consulting for high-stakes litigation on cryptographic issues. As a champion of “Privacy by Design,” Kristof brings advanced cryptographic solutions like pseudonymization to organizations, helping them protect privacy while meeting functional needs. We’re honoured to recognize his outstanding contributions to privacy and security!

2009 – Award
Best Paper Award on SECRYPT
During my PhD., I obtained the Best Paper Award at the Internation Conference on Security and Cryptography (SECRYPT) in Milan for my paper entitled Service And Timeframe Dependent Unlinkable One-time Pseudonyms. My supervisor, Prof. dr. ir. Bart De Decker co-authored the paper. The paper has been published in the Proceedings of the International Conference on Security and Cryptography ICETE.
As winner of the award, the paper was also published in the springer publication e-Business and Telecommunications, 6th International Joint Conference, ICETE 2009, Milan, Italy, July 7-10, 2009. Revised Selected Papers. The paper’s title was slightly modified into Flexible and Time-Based Anonymous Access Restrictions.
